A day on Lindblad National Geographic Explorer...
While in Antarctica with Lindblad you will be activley explorering every day. Zodiac cruise, kayak, hike, and walk daily: there is nothing passive about our expedition style. You will be able to explore daily, sometimes even twice a day! Get suggestions on how to get the best photo of the penguins while on shore or take a long hike or a short walk on a shore lined with ghostly remants of the whaling industry. You can also enjoy the greatest silence on Earth while kayaking.
Lindblad is the only expedtion company in Anatarctica with an undersea specialist, qualified to dive in polar waters, as a part of the expedition team. The undersea specialist suits up and dives or mans a ROV (remotely operated vehicle) able to descent to 1,000 feet and brings back footage of the life beneath the ship for you to enjoy in vivid high-defintion.
About the National Geographic Explorer...
The Explorer was designed to embody the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Alliance and its mission to inspire people to travel and care about the planet. Representing 175 years of collective expedition experience. The Explorer is fully stabilized ice-class vessel with a DNV Ice-1A Super rating on her forward hull. She also has exceptional tools for exploration which allows you to see, do, and experience more in Antarctica.
The Explora Lodge is located right at the heart of the extraordinary Torres del Paine National Park in central Patagonia. UNESCO has declared the National Park as a biosphere reserve due to its varied and untouched landscapes. The lodge opened in 1993 right on the banks of the Salto Chico waterfall. In addition to the beautiful waterfall there is a amazing view of teh Paine Massif and two of the three impressive torres, or towers, which give the park its name. There are 49 rooms on the 7.4 acre site and the design has some organic forms from the landscape included. The lodge wants you to be comfortable in this remote location but not isolated from nature but rather placed "within" it.
While at the Explora each evening you can meet with a guide in the bar/living room and discuss what would be the best adventure for you to go on the next day based on interest and abilities. While on a trek or horseback ride enjoy and experience the the landscapes and wildlife of this singular place. You can experience Patagonia all year long, each season has something different to offer.
